New London venue and record shop Spiritland to open in September
Formerly part of Shoreditch's Merchants Tavern, Spiritland has been granted its own permanent venue in King's Cross, due to open in September.
Spiritland will be augmenting their new music venue with a cafe, bar, and record shop as well. The shop will stock high-end audio equipment, with plans for the venue to also host its own radio studio called Spiritland Sound Studio.
With the venue focusing on high-end equipment, a custom-made soundsystem has been created by Living Voice, who have also created the £340,000 Vox Olympian speakers. The soundsystem is to be shown off every weekday from 6pm by spinning an album each day from start to finish.
You'll also be able to enjoy a variety of DJ sets, artist talks, whisky tastings, and pub quizzes, with a more events hosted by the bar TBA.
Planning to open its doors in mid-September, the new north London venue has promised a broad range of music, telling RA that they'll play "anything from Parliament-Funkadelic to Judee Sill to Talk Talk to Donald Fagen".
A blurb on the venue's website says that Spiritland is "built around the best sound system in the world - a one-off, exceptional creation playing original, in-depth musical programming day and night. It’s all about the music, the artist and the listening experience."
Spiritland is set to open on 9-10 Stable Street near King's Cross in September. You can look out for the venue's listings by signing up on the Spiritland website.
