Metronomy, Slow Club & more funded by government music grants
The UK government has announced a list of recipients for this year’s “Music Export Growth Scheme” grant, with Metronomy and Slow Club gaining financial assistance as part of the project aiming to “support UK music exports”.
Joined by the likes of Band Of Skulls, Lulu James, Bo Ningen, Young Fathers, Smoke Fairies and more, the acts will each receive sums of up to £50,000 to help touring and marketing costs in order to establish themselves overseas.
“From The Beatles to Adele to Mumford & Sons, Britannia rules the airwaves and sells more records around the world than almost any other country,” said venture leader Lord Livingston. “This exporting strength brings jobs and economic growth to the UK and the Music Export Growth Scheme lets up-and-coming British artists up the tempo on the international stage.”
