Kanye West's Yeezus experiences 80% sales drop in second week
Despite it shooting to number 1 in its first week, Kanye West’s much-hyped new album, Yeezus has suffered a sales drop of 80% in only its second week on sale – the biggest comedown since Madonna’s MDNA.
Since its release on 18 June, Yeezus has gone from number 1 down to 6th position. Despite a seal of approval from Velvet Underground legend Lou Reed recently, the album has earned the spot of the fourth largest drop in the history of sales measurers Nielsen SoundScan.
The astonishing thing about this is the magnitude of the decline. Usually, major record sales drop in the second week but the size of this fall is notable especially for a massive artist like Kanye West.
