American indie-rockers, EELS played a much-anticipated London outing last night at Brixton Academy and decided to mark the occasion with a curious choice of support act.
The Mark ‘E’ Everett-led group opened the show in support of recent album Wonderful, Glorious with a ten minute set from a blue wig-wearing air guitarist.
The ‘performer’ in question, a member of the band’s crew, had been given some helping pointers from the EELS frontman before playing to the 5,000 capacity venue.
The man, revealed to be called Steve and hailing from Glasgow, said that it was “once in a lifetime experience”. Fans, however, were left a little more bewildered.
