First Aid Kit – Play With Fire (Rolling Stones cover)
This week, as part of BBC 6 Music’s celebration of 50 years of The Rolling Stones, the award winning station will be presenting a special series of programmes, archive concerts and a poll in which listeners can vote for their favourite Stones track.
Kicking things off this morning, Lauren Laverne aired an exclusive live session from Swedish siblings First Aid Kit, which saw the girls perform a haunting cover of ‘Play With Fire’ – the b-side to the Stones’ 1965 hit ‘The Last Time’. The tale of Mick Jagger’s relationship with a high society girl takes a rather interesting alternate route when sung from the female perspective; Klara and Johanna’s harmonies as tight and unwavering as ever. Stream the track in full below.
Head over to the 6Music website to vote for your favourite Rolling Stones song – the poll closes on Friday 20 July.
First Aid Kit play their largest UK headline show to date at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 20 November. Tickets are on sale now.
