Fujiya & Miyagi share their touching new electronic ballad "To The Last Beat Of My Heart"
Fujiya & Miyagi are airing their new cut "To The Last Beat Of My Heart" on Best Fit as our Song Of The Day.
Described as "something of an ode to fatherhood", the song is a touching electronic number with evocative lyrics and driving rhythms that grab you and drag you through almost four minutes of cinematic pop. It's endlessly melodic and, to be honest, a bit of a tearjerker.
Speaking about the track, David Best says: "I was always sceptical of musicians who become parents writing about their kids. In the wrong hands it can be sickly but becoming a parent does change how you view the world and your own place in it."
Steve Lewis, who was waiting on the birth of his daughter during the track's creation, adds: "A song about unconditional love kind of makes sense to where we are in our lives at the moment."
The Brighton-based duo have been bolstered by drums from Ed Chivers and bass from Ben Adamo for a series of three EPs, which will make up a new eponymous record in 2017.
The band play London's Oslo on 3 June.
