After nearly a year of no-show music, Leeds-based producer Favela returns with "Gong" - a poignant, skittering electronic creation.
Perched on a bed of evergreen strings and cyclical pulses, "Gong" has a restless energy that's pertinent to this annual period of reflection. We may cower away from 2014's mishaps or mentally replay our achievements to unhealthy effect, but "Gong" has a timeless quality that doesn't force us to face the future nor dwell on the past.
"I'm a hanging gong", Favela coos over cascading streams of orchestral electronica. Until the new year's rung in, so are we.
