Faded Paper Figures unveil new Remnants EP featuring original tracks, remixes, and covers [Premiere]
L.A. trio Faded Paper Figures are streaming new EP Remnants in full on Best Fit.
As EPs go, it's on the meatier end of the scale, featuring six tracks - two originals (B-sides), two remixes, and two covers. The covers are of Mideau's "Breathing" and The Smiths' "Heart In Glove", which, when run through a heady electronic gauntlet, ends up rather special indeed. Remnants is a collection of material that accompanies last year's Relic LP, but was never officially released with it.
During the day, the three-piece work demanding careers - doctor, professor of English at Yale, composer for a film production company - but, presumably by night, they sculpt hyperactive power-pop that flits between M83 and Ladytron and Passion Pit. Remnants is all grand synthscapes and robotic tangents - there's an overt futuristic element in their music. It's unadulterated escapism.
