Until now, Owen Holmes is perhaps better known for his bass-work with Black Kids. However whilst awaiting the completion of the notoriously difficult second album, he decided to set out on his own under the moniker of Gospel Music.
About Euan Mackay

TLOBF Introducing // Frankie Rose and The Outs
Ahead of her debut tour of the UK, we caught up with Frankie Rose – former Vivian Girl, Dum Dum Girl and Crystal Stilt – to see just what she had to say about life in the limelight and to get her *brief* thoughts on going it alone.

Frankie Rose and The Outs – Frankie Rose and The Outs
Frankie Rose and The Outs, have history in abundance but, unlike so many other wannabes the quality of their eponymous debut suggests they are a lot more than just another interesting back story.

The Charlatans – Who We Touch
Whilst it’s unlikely that Who We Touch will feature highly amongst many critics’ year-end lists, The Charlatans have produced quite possibly their best album in a nearly a decade.

Avi Buffalo – Avi Buffalo
Avi Buffalo have produced a solid debut record that belies their years and most definitely warrants a second spin.

Happy Birthday – Happy Birthday
It’s a little bit scratchy, it’s a little bit glam, it’s a little bit punk and it’s whole lotta fun. Euan Mackay reviews the newie from Sub Pop signings Happy Birthday.

Goldheart Assembly – Wolves and Thieves
A most enjoyable listen that leaves you feeling just that little bit warmer and more optimistic about the oncoming summer. So much so, that Wolves and Thieves most definitely warrants another spin.

Broken Bells – Broken Bells
Finally! Finally! Finally! After a torturous six months of drip feeding coded messages and unadulterated hype, the debut release from Broken Bells has arrived.

The Key – Christmas EP
Whilst many Christmas releases are full of painful novelty songs that you sicken of long before your turkey curry loses its appeal, the summery sixties vibe on the Christmas EP from The Keys should see you through the new year.

The Watson Twins & Greg Laswell – Slaughtered Lamb, London 25/11/09
A tiny darkened room hosted intimate sets from Vanguard Records new stablemates Greg Laswell and The Watson Twins, both of whom were showcasing their soon to be released albums.

Portico Quartet – Isla
If Arctic Monkeys provide music to drink Stella to then Portico Quartet’s Isla could see you and some rather civilised friends nicely through a bottle of vintage 1999 Chateauneuf-du-pape.
