As we wrote in our review of Mystère, the second full-length album from La Femme, there is more to French pop than Christine and the Queens.
With lyrics resonating strongly with the country's youth, La Femme writes finely produced, straightforward vignettes that work just as well as bare-bones acoustic numbers.
Taken from Mystère, "Sphynx" is a great introduction to the band and its many influences.
La Femme is playing a headline London show at Shepherd's Bush Empire on 17 Nov 2016.
Mystère is out now.
