The Fiery Furnaces – Remember
"Remember"
The Fiery Furnaces are a band I've never had chance to listen to, until now. So what better time for this record to surface. Remember is a double live CD comprised of live performances taken from various shows since 2005. Immediately you get the technical venom of their shows, and their musicianship is downright ridiculous. They are just a barrage of noise, a mental punk infused electronic nightmare - wonderful stuff!I think all bands should go to the same lengths that The Fiery Furnaces go to when preparing a tour. They dive from one song to another, not in any order or structure, in fact having little or no concern for recreating the originals; they just wanna play around as much as possible, see where they can go.From the moment an 8 minute version of 'Blueberry Boat' hits the ride begins. I am at a bit of a disadvantage as I don't know the originals so can't comment on how they have fucked with them but they are definitely fucking with something, correction, pretty much everything they touch. It's none stop for two records, that's 51 tracks clocking in at over two hours - one for the die hard Fiery Furnaces. For those of you who are big fans you will surely love this and for newbies like me it has introduced me to one of the more adventurous, committed to the chaos bands around. Neat!
