Ahead of her 2022 Mercury Prize win last night (18 October) a clip of Little Simz rapping on BBC 1Xtra aged 11 resurfaced online.

Ahead of last night's 2022 Mercury Prize Award ceremony, Little Simz reposted a resurfaced clip of her rapping on BBC 1Xtra at just 11-years-old. In the clip, she raps, "See my real name is Simbi / My tag name is Simz / Don't watch me and the way I'm rocking my Timbs."

Later in the clip, she adds, "'Cause it's all about your mind / And the power of the pen, look / I'm Little Simz / And I set trends / Don't like liars / Hate fake friends / Don't like people that hate on Simz."

The video resurfaced ahead of her 2022 Mercury Prize win. Her Sometimes I Might Be Introvert album (which topped Best Fit's Best Albums of 2021 list) won the prestigious prize after being shortlisted with albums by Self Esteem, Wet Leg, Harry Styles, Gwenno, Sam Fender, Kojey Radical, Nova Twins, Joy Crookes and more.
