Rina Sawayama previews new album with fourth single "Phantom"
Rina Sawayama has unveiled new track "Phantom" as the fourth outing from her upcoming second album Hold The Girl.
"Phantom" follows last month's album title-track, June's "Catch Me In The Air" and May's huge anthem "This Hell", and is teamed with a visualiser by F That.
Sawayama says of the new release, "I realised as an adult that I have spent my whole life pleasing other people and not realising it – constantly pushing my boundaries and not realising the difference between what I wanted to do and what other people wanted from me. Through the lyrics in the verse I’m trying to tell this story and then in the choruses I’m morning the loss of my real self."
Hold The Girl will follow her 2020 debut album SAWAYAMA, and was written and recorded over the last year and a half with help from Clarence Clarity, Lauren Aquilina, Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & the Machine), Stuart Price (Dua Lipa, The Killers, Madonna) and Marcus Andersson (Demi Lovato, Ashnikko).
"Phantom" is out now. Rina Sawayama's Hold The Girl album will arrive on 16 September via Dirty Hit, and is available to pre-order now.
