The Africa Express @ The Big Top, Creative Common, Bristol 07/09

Having already stopped off in Middlesbrough, Glasgow, Manchester and Cardiff The Africa Express is set to bring its rather unique collaborative event to Bristol tonight. Expect appearances from the likes of Damon Albarn, Amadou & Mariam, Carl Barât, Kano, Kyla La Grange, Spoek Mathambo, Jack Steadman (Bombay Bicycle Club), Temper Trap, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Nick Zinner and many more.

Deap Vally @ Rescue Rooms, Nottingham 08/09

According to our News Editor this Californian duo “look like they’ve walked straight from the set of ‘Natural Born Killers’”, which we have to admit is a pretty damn accurate descriptions: their “liquor-store chic” underlying explosive guitars, raw Joplin-esque vocals and simple rock ‘n’ roll values.

Patti Smith @ Corn Exchange, Cambridge 10/09

Patti Smith’s tough, poet activist exterior belies a warmth and passion that can be a little too hard to come by these days, and despite her worries to the contrary, her most recent record Banga and its subsequent tour proves she is still relevant – vital in fact.

When the New York City duo released their debut single ‘Hurricane’ back in May we just couldn’t wait to see what they would do live. Unfortunately we had to as they post-poned their UK tour but boy has the time flown by and here we are again, standing on the brink of a slick-pop filled evening.

Chad Valley @ The Sebright Arms, London 13/09

Hugo Manuel is back. The full length follow up to his 2011 EP Equatorial Ultravox, entitled Young Hunger is set to drop on 19 November and it looks like The Sebright Arms will be the first chance we’ll get to hear some new material, other than the excellent taste we’ve already had in the Glasser featuring number ‘Fall 4 U’.
