Paramore to feature on A24's tribute to Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads
Paramore have recorded a cover of Talking Heads’ classic "Burning Down The House" for an upcoming tribute album for Stop Making Sense, in partnership with A24.
Last year, A24 remastered the iconic concert film Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads, in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The new screening was released with a deluxe version of the soundtrack, which featured two previously unreleased songs from the film – "Cities" and "Big Business / I Zimbra".
After teasing fans that a collaboration with David Byrne was on the way, following the release of "almost" remix album, Re: This Is Why, it has now been confirmed that Paramore will feature on a forthcoming Talking Heads tribute album.
A24 have shared a post which announces a forthcoming tribute to Stop Making Sense, featuring "16 tracks from 16 artists". The first teaser to be shared is a rendition of "Burning Down the House" by Paramore. The accompanying video sees Hayley Williams collect a delivery of the huge grey suit that Byrne wore during the show. The camera pans to Taylor York and Zac Farro in a studio set up, and whilst holding up a cassette which says "Stop Making Sense" on it, Williams says: "I've got a tape I wanna play you," as a snippet of their cover begins to play.
This is the first post from Paramore since they wiped their social media accounts and took their website offline, following the termination of their contract with Atlantic Records, and the end of their touring cycle for their sixth studio album, This Is Why. They also recently pulled out of the upcoming ALTer Ego Festival in Los Angeles due to “unforseen circumstances” and were replaced by Fall Out Boy.
