Liz Pelly among new wave of names announced for Primavera Pro
Primavera Pro has revealed its full programme, with the likes of writer Liz Pelly among the experts joining the talks and panels at the industry event.
Professionals from across the music world will address topics such as digital evolution, content creation today, the future of licensing and artist independence
Pelly – the author of Mood Machine: The Rise of Spotify and The Costs of the Perfect Playlist – will talk about the crucial role that streaming and playlists play in the creation of hits following her research on the implications of algorithms and the practices of streaming platforms. In a similar vein, PC Music label manager Andrew Mishko and Arina Logacheva from the Ohlogy agency will talk about authenticity in an environment in which stories and relationships are strategically designed, but where fans are still looking for genuine connections.

Artificial intelligence will be spotlighted via a discussion between Kamil Latorre (Warner Chappell Music), Clara Rodríguez (Telefónica), and Lucius Klobucnik (Aston Law School), who will talk about the challenges posed by AI for copyright and digital licensing. How are works generated by artificial intelligence protected – and what role do publishers play in this new scenario?
From queer visibility to job security, algorithmic equality and the right to the city, the event will also propose a series of sessions inviting attendees to rethink the contemporary music ecosystem. Singer María Escarmiento, Carmen Picado from Warner Chappell Spain, and director David Velduque will take on authenticity and strategy in the industry. Digital infrastructure also comes into question in a talk on how metadata reinforces (or corrects) gender biases on platforms.
