Tkay Maidza links with JPEGMAFIA for gritty new single "Awake"
Australian rapper Tkay Maidza has teamed up with JPEGMAFIA for the insomnia inspired new single "Awake".
"Awake" is Tkay Maidza's first new single since her 2018 EP Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1.
The new offering features Baltimore rapper JPEGMAFIA. The duo rap over an industrial beat produced by Dan Farber.
Speaking about the new track, Tkay Maidza explains, "The song is about insomnia. I came up with the hook one night when I couldn’t sleep. It was in the middle of the night of a writing trip where I was up late ’til at least 3am every night for a whole month. We flipped the track and made it about what I do whilst I’m not sleeping. Then JPEG came and took it to another dimension."
