Thundercat writes new song for upcoming ThunderCats series
Thundercat has finally fulfilled his name by writing a song for the upcoming Cartoon Network reboot of ThunderCats Roar.
There isn't anyone else in the music industry more qualified to write a ThunderCats song, as Thundercat reveals in a Comic-Con at Home panel discussion with the voice cast of the show that Erykah Badu, along with a few friends, was one of the first people to call him Thundercat because he frequently wore a ThunderCats t-shirt in the studio.
Cartoon Network have announced a reboot of the ThunderCats Roar series, and Thundercat has penned an original song called "Grune the Destroyer Song" for the series. Thundercat will also voice the villain, Grune The Destroyer, in the series.
Thundercat summed up his feelings about the new song on Twitter yesterday (23 July), "I always wanted to be a thundercat. Thank you Cartoon Network."

Elsewhere in the panel discussion, Thundercat reveals that during his childhood, his mother "wouldn’t buy me the toys because she genuinely thought I would worship them" and discussed his fascination with the show. Watch the full panel discussion below.
