The xx have reached number one in the UK Albums Top 40 with their new album Coexist.
The record, the London band’s second to date, debuted in the chart at pole position ahead of Bob Dylan’s 35th studio effort Tempest, which occupies the third slot.
The group’s first album also rose to no.37 while Mercury Prize nominees Alt-J saw a bounce of fourteen places, moving up to no.24.
Another new entry this week was David Byrne and St Vincent’s collaborative LP Love This Giant, scrapping into the list at 40th place.
