The Nobel Prize panel can't get hold of Bob Dylan
Last week Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature - but the Swedish Academy can't get hold of him.
Dylan, 75, has remained characteristically quiet since receiving the award - he's performed but refused to even mention that he's a Nobel Laureate. Not a peep. Perhaps it's not that surprising that the Nobel team are struggling to make contact.
“Right now we are doing nothing. I have called and sent emails to his closest collaborator and received very friendly replies. For now, that is certainly enough,” said Sara Danius, the Academy’s permanent secretary, to Radio SR.
The Academy are yet to hear from Dylan, and they don't even know if he'll turn up to accept the award in person. Traditionally, Swedish royal King Carl XVI Gustaf presents the Nobel winners with their award at a celebratory banquet in Stockholm; the winners then give a speech.
Although they've not heard from Dylan, Danius is optimistic: “I am not at all worried. I think he will show up… If he doesn’t want to come, he won’t come. It will be a big party in any case and the honour belongs to him.”
