The National to play same song for six hours straight at New York museum
Brooklyn band The National are preparing for their upcoming new album release and subsequent tour in a rather strange way: by playing the same song for an entire six hours in a row.
The group are set to appear at New York’s MoMA PS1 next weekend, collaborating with with Iceland-born artist Ragnar Kjartansson on a piece of performance art called “A Lot of Sorrow”.
The exhibition will see the band continuously play their track ‘Sorrow’ from High Violet for the entire installation to turn “a single pop song into a day-long tour de force” and to continues his explorations into the potential of repetitive performance to produce sculptural presence within sound”.
It’ll take place on Sunday 5 May, from midday to 6pm. Tickets are $15, available here. The National’s new album Trouble Will Find Me is out in May.
