The Avalanches and Tony Hawk unite for rare X-ray vinyl fundraiser
The Avalanches have teamed up with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk to launch a fundraiser for a rare X-ray vinyl of "Reflecting Light".
Skating pro Tony Hawk has announced that he's teamed up with The Avalanches to launch a fundraiser for his non-profit organisation The Skatepark Project, which "supports disadvantaged communities and at-risk children, and to-date has awarded over $10-million to more than 600 public skatepark projects across the U.S and $150,000 in support of the Skateistan program in Afghanistan, Cambodia, and South Africa."
The Avalanches have printed 12 copies of their "Reflecting Light" single onto X-ray film for a rare 7" vinyl (with help from Melbourne-based custom vinyl factory Small Run), but the one that Hawk is offering in the fundraiser is a one-off, as it includes his X-ray scan from June that showed his dislocated fingers.

As The Avalanches note, the X-ray vinyl is a tribute to "the 'bone records' of the 1950's Soviet era, (where banned western records were cut onto X-Ray film and smuggled into the USSR to avoid authorities)."
The Avalanches released "Reflecting Light" (featuring vocals from Sananda Maritreya) in July.
Fans will be automatically entered into the draw by donating any amount to the fundraiser.
