Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's Version) album is eligible for Grammy nomination
The Recording Academy has confirmed that Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's Version) album is eligible for a Grammy nomination as it's being considered as a "new recording".
Swift released Red (Taylor's Version) in November last year as the second release in her ongoing re-recordings series, following April 2021's Fearless (Taylor's Version), and although Swift's label didn't submit the re-recording of her 2008 album Fearless in last year's Grammy or CMA Awards due to it being the "most awarded country album of all time," the Recording Academy has confirmed to Billboard that Red (Taylor's Version) is eligible for a Grammy after updating the album eligibility rules last month.
When asked if Swift's re-recording of Red would be eligible for a Grammy, the Recording Academy confirmed it is eligible "as it is a new recording."
Back in June, the Recording Academy updated its rules for the upcoming 65th annual Grammy Awards in 2023. Previously, an album needed to include 50% "playing time of newly recorded music", but for next year's awards they've upped it to 75%.
Swift and her team are yet to reveal if Red (Taylor's Version) will be submitted to the upcoming Grammy Awards. At the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014, the original version of Red was nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Country Album.
