Squid return with synth-fuelled new track "Broadcaster"
Warp signees Squid are back with new track "Broadcaster".
"Broadcaster" follows on from March's "Sludge" single, which marked their debut track on Warp. "Broadcaster" will be the AA-side song accompanying "Sludge" on a limited vinyl pressing being released next month.
Squid's new track is build on a arpeggiated synth melody created by the band's own Arthur Leadbetter while the rest of the group were out hiking.
Vocalist/drummer Ollie Judge says of the chaotic track, "Lyrically the track was inspired by the visual artist Naim June Paik and his TV Garden installation. I thought it blurred the lines between a dystopian and utopian vision. I imagined what it must be like living synonymously amongst nature and technology in the most literal way I could imagine, with TVs towering over me amongst forests."
