Sleater-Kinney unveil album title-track "The Center Won't Hold"
Sleater-Kinney have returned with "The Center Won't Hold", the title-track from their highly-anticipated 10th album.
"The Center Won't Hold" follows on from earlier singles "The Future Is Here" and "Hurry On Home".
Since announcing their new album The Center Won't Hold, which is produced by St. Vincent, Sleater-Kinney revealed that their drummer, Janet Weiss, had decided to leave the group.
Weiss wrote, "The band is heading in a new direction and it is time for me to move on."
Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker of the group shared the news too, writing, "We are saddened by janet's decision to leave Sleater-Kinney. It has been an incredible privilege to work with such a talented musician and drummer over the course of so many albums, including The Center Won't Hold."
Yesterday (16 July), Pitchfork reported that Brownstein had replied to a comment on Instagram about Weiss' departure from the band, writing, "what am I supposed to say? She left. We asked her to stay. We tried. It’s hard and sad. Most people would ask me, “hey are you ok?” That’s the human response. She’s left us with a job to do, a job we also expected and wanted her to be a part of...We‘re going to keep going because we believe in ourselves and it‘s a privilege to get to play music for people. It‘s a new chapter. And all artistic entities have many chapters, if they‘re lucky. Either the music will resonate or it won’t."
