Sigur Rós members set to release circus-inspired instrumental album
Members of Sigur Rós have joined with Icelandic composer Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson to create a new instrumental album.
The album, titled Circe, is the soundtrack for upcoming documentary The Show Of Shows, which seeks to explore the history of circuses, carnivals and vaudevillian theatre.
Sigur Rós's rhythm section Georg Holm (bass) and Orri Páll Dýrason (percussion), along with their live gutiarist Kjartan Holm and Hilmarsson, have been commissioned by the BBC to create the 72-minute soundtrack.
Circe is set to be released by Sigur Rós's own label Krunk on 21 August. Although the documentary isn't set to air until 2016, there are two special screenings lined up: one at the Barbican on 16 July, and another at Latitude on 17 July.
Sigur Rós last released a studio album in 2013 - the monstrous, cathartic Kveikur.
