[Premiere] Watch: The Middle East – Jesus Came To My Birthday Party (Directed by Rob and Rob)
Having announced their split only last week, The Middle East seem to have offered up one last parting gift. Taken from their recently released second album I Want That You Are Always Happy, the stunning stand-out track ‘Jesus Came To My Birthday Party’ was released as a single last week and the band had already ran a competition via Genero.TV giving the public the chance to make the song’s official video.
Being indecisive the band finally settled on not one, but two winning entries – one of which we have for you above in all its nude, fire baton twirling glory. Featuring a young woman on a rooftop in what seems to be an abandoned building as the daylight dwindles, the video’s exhilarating pace and isolated narrative perfectly compliment the songs nostalgic yet joyous harmony.
This entry was directed by Rob and Rob, otherwise known as Robert Brandon and Robin James, two filmmakers from Essex who “after years of musical failure” decided to put down their guitars and concentrate on backing other bands look cool. If you head over to This Is Fake DIY for the exclusive look at the other entrant it is easy to understand why the two were chosen.
