Pixies to tour the world: First dates announced along with the promise of new material
Pixies will tour the world later this year and promise “the first collection of new material since 1991′s Trompe le Monde“, despite the band’s publicist claiming there would be no new record last week.
The band kick off the first leg of a world-wide tour in France on 29 September with dates in the UK in late November.
Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering will be joined by The Pandoras/The Muffs bass player Kim Shattuck, replacing original member Kim Deal who left last month.
The band promise a set that includes “everyone’s favorites” along with “songs that we haven’t played in ages or never played live before…Songs like ‘Brick is Red’, ‘Havalina’, ‘Tony’s Theme’ and ‘Sad Punk’.’”
“We’ve probably rehearsed some eighty songs,” said Black Francis, “so we’ll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. We’re all really looking forward to this tour.”
The first new track from the band in almost a decade, ‘Bagboy‘, dropped last week.
