Ought announce split, members form new band Cola and share debut single "Blank Curtain"
Montreal's Ought have announced that they're no longer a band, but the group's Tim Darcy and Ben Stidworthy have formed a new project called Cola, and they've released the first single "Blank Curtain" today (3 November).
Earlier today Ought announced that they are "no longer active as a band" on socials. Since forming in 2012, the band released three albums, the latest of which was 2018's Room Inside The World.
Despite breaking up, the post directed Ought fans to new project Cola, which features Ought's vocalist Tim Darcy and bassist Ben Stidworthy, as well as U.S. Girls drummer Evan Cartwright.

Cola have released their debut single today, titled "Blank Curtain".
The band says of the track, "What started as stripped-down open D songwriting with a CR-78 soon became a full album and new band. We wanted to see how far we could stretch our compositions with just drums, one guitar, one bass, and one voice."
""Blank Curtain" is a quarter note kick drum pushing 240 bpm, a drone-like chord progression, and declarative vocals cutting through the haze," Cola added. "If you could invert the color of the "Blank Curtain", you might have something like a Chicago house track that sounds like a band in a room."
