New Jersey university to introduce Bruce Springsteen seminar
A university in Bruce Springsteen’s home state of New Jersey are set to host lectures on the musician and his use of theology.
Rutgers University will run a Bruce Springsteen class for an entire semester, led by Professor Azzan Yadin-Israel and focussing on The Boss’ lyrics.
“Springsteen refers more often to the stories of the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament) than the New Testament. On a literary level, Springsteen often recasts biblical figures and stories into the American landscape,” a news bulletin reads.
“Theologically, the most dominant motifs are redemption — crossing the desert and entering the Promised Land — and the sanctity of the everyday.”
