M.I.A. announces release date for upcoming documentary MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A. on World Refugee Day
M.I.A. has announced the release of her upcoming film on World Refugee Day, that documents her upbringing as an immigrant from Sri Lanka, and her transition to London.
MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A has been in the works for a while now, and today, in co-ordination with World Refugee Day, M.I.A. has announced its highly anticipated release date.
The documentary traces M.I.A.'s life, first beginning as a normal young girl in Sri Lanka named Matangi, later becoming Maya after fleeing to London, and finally as M.I.A.
Having had its world premiere at this year's Sundance Festival, M.I.A.'s film has been pieced together through a series of personal videos M.I.A. recorded over the space of 22 years, which is being directed by long-time friend Steve Loveridge.
