Matt Helders says new Arctic Monkeys album will hopefully be arriving in 2022
Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders has given an update on the band's new album, saying it'll hopefully be dropping in 2022.
As NME reports, Helders appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast earlier today (12 November), and as well as giving presenter Rick Edwards a drum lesson, Helders also spoke about the group's new album, which will follow 2018's Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
On whether the album is nearly ready, Helders said, "Yeah, pretty much, yeah. It was a bit disjointed how we had to do it, and there are bits to finish off, but yeah, it’s all in the works."
He added of the release, "I think by the time we get everything together it’ll be next year. Hopefully we can get out and tour next summer."
Back in August Suffolk venue Butley Priory claimed that Arctic Monkeys had been recording their seventh album after the group stayed there for a month in June.
