Matt Berninger releases new track "Let It Be" from deluxe edition of Serpentine Prison album
The National's Matt Berninger has shared new song "Let It Be", which is part of a new deluxe edition of Serpentine Prison due out next month.
Berninger released his debut solo album Serpentine Prison in October last year, and last night (18 February) he unveiled "Let It Be", which isn't a Beatles cover.
As Stereogum reports, Berninger has previously hinted that the extra material recorded for Serpentine Prison would be released at one point, and "Let It Be" is a taster of that extra material.
In the video description, Berninger writes of the song, "This is a new song about an old frenemy. Not Paul McCartney or Westerberg."
Berninger co-wrote "Let It Be" with his old Nancy bandmate Mike Brewer, and it's due to feature on a deluxe edition of Serpentine Prison being released digitally next month.
The deluxe edition of Berninger's solo album will also include covers of Morphine’s "In Spite Of Me", Eddie Floyd's "Big Bird", Bettye Swan's "Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye" and the Velvet Underground’s "European Son".
