Massachusetts town keeps having their Old Town Road street signs stolen
People keep stealing Old Town Road street signs from Wellesley in Massachusetts.
Lil Nas X might have the longest Number One in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, but the Department of Public Works in Wellesley have definitely had enough.
Smash hit "Old Town Road" has held the top spot in the Billboard Hot 100 for a record-breaking 19 weeks, but it appears that the number one hit has had a negative impact on the Wellesley town.
Wellesley is actually home to the road called "Old Town Road", and on three occasions since spring, the road signs have been stolen.
According to Consequence of Sound, Wellesley’s communication and project manager Stephanie Hawkinson said, "The behavior is likely the work of individuals playing pranks, but it costs the town a lot of time and money to locate, repair - and where the signs and posts are damaged - replace, and reinstall the signs."
The town officials have decided to refrain from replacing the road signs until the hype around Lil Nas X's hit has calmed down.
