Manic Street Preachers announce new record Resistance Is Futile
Manic Street Preachers have announced thirteenth studio record Resistance Is Futile and detailed a new run of tour dates.
The new record follows 2014 LP Futurology and a plethora of anniversary celebrations, including their summer Send Away The Tigers extravaganzas. Resistance Is Futile is the Manics' first LP recorded in their Newport(ish) studio Door To The River.
"The main themes of Resistance is Futile are memory and loss; forgotten history; confused reality and art as a hiding place and inspiration," the band say. "It’s obsessively melodic - in many ways referencing both the naive energy of Generation Terrorists and the orchestral sweep of Everything Must Go. After delay and difficulties getting started, the record has come together really quickly over the last few months through a surge of creativity and some old school hard work."
As well as the album news, Manic Street Preachers have announced a new spring 2018 tour, beginning at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on 23 April and finishing at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on 5 May, with support on all dates coming from The Coral. Tickets for the new shows will be on sale from 9.30am on 24 November. Find out more.
