Madonna shares empowering new single "I Rise"
Madonna has revealed her second single from Madame X, the empowering "I Rise".
Arriving after last month's "Medellín", Madonna's new single "I Rise" lands as the second taster of her first album in four years, Madame X.
The new single samples school shooting survivor Emma González, and is a song of empowerment. Madonna says, "I wrote "I Rise" as a way of giving a voice to all marginalized people who feel they don’t have the opportunity to speak their mind. This year is the 50th anniversary of Pride and I hope this song encourages all individuals to be who they are, to speak their minds and to love themselves."
Madame X, Madonna's follow up to 2015's Rebel Heart, is largely influenced by her time spent living in Lisbon, Portugal. Spread across 15 new tracks, Madonna sings in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Her record features collaborations with Quavo (and co-production from Diplo), Swae Lee, Maluma, and Anitta.
Speaking about her new record, Madonna says, "Lisbon is where my record was born. I found my tribe there and a magical world of incredible musicians that reinforced my belief that music across the world is truly all connected and is the soul of the universe."
