Lorde's new single sounds very familiar...
Lorde's swiftly dropped the follow up to the bombastic brilliance of "Green Light" - it's called "Liability" and it's a tearjerk ballad.
The pared-back, piano-led tune is built to hit hard - Lorde's vocal talents melt with sparse keys to brutal effect, providing a totally different preview of upcoming second LP Melodrama.
But a lot of ears can't help but notice it feels eerily familiar...
Doesn’t the Lorde song 'Liability sound like a stripped back version of 'welcome to the black parade' by my chemical romance?

Am I the only one who thinks @lorde's "Liability" (a masterpiece btw) sounds a lot like @MCRofficial's "Welcome to the Black Parade?" pic.twitter.com/xCu2xQe7y8

That @lorde track is wicked. I've totally ruined it for myself by singing welcome to the black parade to it. #emoforever

Regardless of what or who it sounds like, it's pretty bloody great.
Lorde's debut album Pure Heroine was released in 2013. Despite not releasing an album for a while, Lorde's certainly kept busy - she paid tribute to David Bowie at last year's BRIT Awards, has worked with Broods and Disclosure, and curated the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.
Melodrama is out 16 June via Universal. Pre-order now.
