Joy Division and New Order graphic designer to create new logo for Kanye West
Peter Saville, the visual artist behind much of the Factory Records output, has been recruited by Kanye West to design him a new logo.
“We’re looking at ways of writing ‘Kanye West,’” the man behind Joy Division and New Order’s album artwork told Dezeen at the Global Design Forum in London. ”What does ‘Kanye’ and ‘Kanye West’ look like written down?”
Saville continued to mention that Kanye compared his vision to that of Cassandre‘s 1961 logo for Yves Saint Laurent, adding: ”He said to me: ‘You’re Cassandre’. He wants a YSL”.
Here’s a cover from Saville (for Joy Division’s Closer) and one from West (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) to compare and contrast.
