John Grant shares couplet of tracks "He's Got His Mother's Hips" and "Touch & Go"
"He's Got His Mother's Hips" and "Touch & Go" are the latest tracks to be shared from John Grant's upcoming album, Love Is Magic.
Having announced his fourth solo album and revealed the title track "Love Is Magic", John Grant is back with another two flavours.
His two new tracks are from opposite ends of the spectrum. "He's Got His Mother's Hips" is a glamorous 80s synth spell, and "Touch & Go" is a tender ballad.
Speaking about the first, Grant explains "He's Got His Mother's Hips" is “about a cheeseball doing all he can to get into a woman’s pants, making a total ass of himself. It’s a fun song built on disgust.”
The second track, "Tough & Go" is built around the story of Chelsea Manning, the activist, whistleblower, politician and former US Army soldier. Grant expands, "I was very intrigued by her incredible story. What kind of strength does it take to survive something like that while being decried as a traitor and a pervert for whom death is too good."
Love Is Magic will see the biggest incorporation of electronic music used to date as Grant explores the genre with the help of Benge (Ben Edwards). Benge helped to produce and engineer Grant's new album at his Cornish studio.
His fourth solo album arrives after 2015's Grey Tickles, Black Pressure.
