Jeffrey Lewis, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & more feature on Jason Molina covers album
Graveface Records are commemorating the life of the late Jason Molina with a new compilation album.
The record, out now to cover medical and funeral costs, will feature covers of Molina’s songs by Jeffrey Lewis, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Phil Elverum, John Vanderslice and Allo Darlin’.
They’ll be joined by the likes of Mark Kozelek, Scout Niblett, Will Johnson, Damien Jurado, Wave Pictures, Herman Dune and more on the benefit release.
The Secretly Canadian-signed musician passed away on 16 March from organ failure due to alcoholism. Molina’s addiction to alcohol had been long known, with his family and friends making a public plea for help funding his medical needs after it was announced that he didn’t have health care insurance.
Molina had largely been inactive musically since 2009 and was last known to be living on a farm in West Virginia, according to Pitchfork.
