Help Musicians Scotland officially launches with a little help from Idlewild
Help Musicians UK - the leading independent charity for musicians working in this country - recently revealed a permanent Scottish operation, and tomorrow night they celebrate with an official launch gig featuring Idlewild.
The "Rooted In Scotland" gig takes place at Glasgow's King Tut's on 1 February, and will also feature performances from Be Charlotte, Indigo Velvet and SKJØR - alongside Roddy Woomble and co.
Help Musicians Scotland (HMScotland) say their Scotland base will uniquely benefit Scottish musicians, provide bespoke Scottish programming and campaigns plus link to the charity’s near-100 years of health and welfare support for the music industry. Importantly, all of the funds raised in Scotland will stay in Scotland to help support the industry and its needs.
Claire Gevaux, Director of HMScotland said: “After a year of listening and reflecting on the needs of the Scottish music scene, I’m excited to see HMScotland launch in a few weeks. I look forward to sharing more of our ambitions at the launch when we will set down our permanent roots."
