Grimes launches artist co-op, signs Toronto's Nicole Dollanganger as first act
Grimes has announced the launch of Eerie Organisation, the new artist co-operative that she's founded.
Toronto's Nicole Dollanganger is the first artist to be signed to Eerie, with Grimes saying that “it blew up my brain so hard that I literally started Eerie to fucking put it out because it's a crime against humanity for this music not to be heard." It's easy to hear why Grimes had that kind of reaction, because Dollanganger's new single "You're So Cool" is a groundbreaking piece of stop-you-in-your-tracks post-pop.
A press release for Eerie reads:
Eerie Organization is an artist co-operative founded by Grimes that exists to help artists accomplish more than they would be able to on their own, without sacrificing any of their independence in the process. Although Eerie Organization will release music, it's not a staffed record label and will not be accepting submissions. Eerie will be releasing Grimes' upcoming album in Canada only. Future Eerie projects could take many forms, reflecting Grimes' own mercurial, multidisciplinary approach to creativity.
Natural Born Losers is out 9 October. Find out more about Dollangagner on Facebook. Grimes is apparently releasing a new record featuring ukuleles and diss tracks in October.
