Seemingly taking notes from Black Flag, the Misfits’ former frontman Glenn Danzig is suing ex-bandmate Jerry Only over ownership of the punk band’s iconic logo.
The seminal image - depicting a skull in black and white - was licensed by all the band’s original members in 1994, before Only allegedly re-registered the trademarks in his name alone during the year 2000. In the lawsuit - filed on 3 April in California - Danzig accused Only of striking up deals with a number of retailers, including Hot Topic, behind his back.
Danzig left the group in 1983, with Only serving as leader ever since.
