Black Flag settle trademark dispute with rival reunion group Flag
The Black Flag v Flag beef seems to have come to an end, following a dispute over the hardcore-punk band’s trademark.
As previously reported, founding member Greg Ginn (who currently operates under the legendary band’s name) had been suing a rival reunion (called Flag) for the apparent confusion between the two nostalgic tours. His former bandmates Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena and Bill Stevenson had assumed that aforementioned shortened name last year, hitting the road to play Black Flag’s back-catalogue.
Now, according to Ginn’s attorney, the case has been settled – although the full details are not yet known. “FLAG gets to be FLAG, and Black Flag as it is presently known continues to be Black Flag,” Evan Cohen told The Hollywood Reporter. And it seems to be as simple as that.
