Glass Animals cover Lorde's "Solar Power" for Spotify Singles series
For Spotify's Singles series celebrating this year's Best New Artist Grammy nominees, Glass Animals have recorded a cover of Lorde's "Solar Power".
Glass Animals are the latest Best New Artist Grammy nominees to take part in the Spotify Singles series, and as well as recording a version of last year's "I Don’t Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance)" single, the band recorded a cover of Lorde's "Solar Power" at Spotify’s studios in London, which they originally covered as part of a BBCR1 Live Lounge set in November last year.
Lead vocalist Dave Bayley said of the cover choice, "I chose "Solar Power" because in a time when we were all stuck indoors a bit - this song made me feel like I was on a beach....we all needed a bit of that! It's a stunning song and then I just had a version of it in my head where it was faster with a gospel choir behind it....so....we made it!"
The new Spotify Singles release follows Japanese Breakfast's cover of Bon Iver's "Skinny Love", Arlo Parks' cover of Kaytranada and Syd's "You're The One", and Finneas' version of Bon Iver's "Flume".
