Ethel Cain previews debut album with third single "American Teenager"
Ethel Cain has released a third and final outing from her debut album Preacher's Daughter titled "American Teenager".
"American Teenager" will appear on Preacher's Daughter with earlier outings "Strangers" and "Gibson Girl", and is the final preview of Cain's debut album before it lands in full next month.
Cain says of the new single, "Growing up I was surrounded by visions of Nascar, rock’n’roll, and being the one who would change everything. They make you think it’s all achievable and that if nothing else, you should at least die trying. What they don’t tell you is that you need your neighbour more than your country needs you. I wrote this song as an expression of my frustration with all the things the "American Teenager" is supposed to be but never had any real chance of becoming."
Preacher's Daughter will follow Cain's 2021 Inbred EP, and is entirely produced by Cain, who worked on the record with multi-instrumentalists Matt Tomasi and Colyer.
