David Bowie tribute concert set to be livestreamed on Skype
One of two forthcoming tribute shows to David Bowie is set to be livestreamed for fans across the world.
The shows, taking place at New York City's Carnegie Hall on 31 March and Radio City Music Hall on 1 April, will feature performances from Pixies, Laurie Anderson, Cat Power, The Flaming Lips, J Mascis, Michael Stipe, Blondie, Amanda Palmer, Anna Calvi, The Polyphonic Spree, Mumford & Sons, and many more. The second of these dates is to be broadcast across the globe.
Those tuning in online will be asked to donate one of a range of arts charities. A statement on the shows' website reads: “Due to unprecedented interest in the David Bowie memorial concert in Radio City, we have teamed up with Skype and ammado to stream the concert around the world, in return for a small donation to our charity partners. We suggest a minimum donation equivalent to $20 or £15.”
The first of these concerts was announced shortly before Bowie's death in January, and has since been transformed into a celebration of his life and legacy. Both dates are sold out.
