Damien Jurado announces new record with lead track "South"
Singer/songwriter Damien Jurado has announced his new album In the Shape of a Storm, revealed alongside delicate lead single "South".
"South" is the first track to be shared from Jurado's first LP since 2018's The Horizon Just Laughed.
On the new single, Jurado explains, ""South", like most songs that I write, is a collage of sorts, or collection of snapshots, that centre around two characters. One could even presume me, or me as an alternate self. Dark, isolated, and slightly menacing in tone for a waltz number."
In the Shape of a Storm also marks the first album since his friend and collaborator Richard Swift passed last year.
Jurado's forthcoming record is an acoustic one, recorded in just two hours at a studio in California, with only occasional contributions from Josh Gordon. Jurado says, "It just felt like it was time".
