Daft Punk confirm album collaborations and preview new track at Coachella
The wave of anticipation for new Daft Punk material swelled to a new level at Coachella last night, with the screening of a teaser video advertising their album on the main stage.
Despite not actually being billed to perform at the festival, the legendary French duo did a pretty good job of stealing the show at the Californian festival yesterday. Prior to the main stage performance by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they screened a trailer for the new album, Random Access Memories, confirming its star studded line of special guests, and featuring over a minute of new material. Alongside Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, who appeared in the video and track to create a pretty odd-looking supergroup, will be Julian Casablancas, Panda Bear, Giorgio Moroder, Chilly Gonzales, DJ Falcon, and Todd Edwards.
Neon Gold confirmed on Twitter that the duo were in fact in attendance at the festival, fuelling rumours that they again join Phoenix, as they did in 2010 at Madison Square Gardens, for their headline slot tonight. Add this to the rumour mill already circulating the possibility of a new single airing on Monday.
Watch the slightly shaky fan-shot footage of the trailer below. Random Access Memories will be released May 21 via Columbia.
