Billie Eilish says fans impersonating her "make me look bad"
After a number of impersonators have gone viral, Billie Eilish took to her Instagram Story to ask fans to stop pretending to be her in public.
Eilish has previously spoken about her not being able to go out in public on her own due to being mobbed by fans, and now some fans are actually trying to dress up as her to get reactions from the public.
Yesterday (30 January) on her Instagram Story, Eilish called out the people impersonating her, writing, "please stop doing this shit. It is not safe for you and it is mean to the people who don't know any better. You make me look bad."
One photographer, who staged a public cheerleader style backflip with a fake Billie Eilish has since responded on Instagram, writing, "I gathered a crowd and had an acrobat pretending to be Billie do a huge cheer flip, which revealed it was not Billie. I had absolutely no intention of disrespecting Billie. I'm a big fan, like everyone else. I've never done a celebrity impersonation video before, but they're pretty common so I thought it would be fun to add my own acrobat twist."
The photographer adds, "I felt it was completely harmless since at no time in the video are we pretending that she actually is Billie. I have reached out directly to Billie and Maggie and apologized, and I will not post the video without their permission. I hope this clarifies everything.
